How to Quickly and Easily Freeze Berries

Freezing berries is really easy. Remember to keep the berries COLD before you work them up! Only work up a part at a time, keeping the rest under refrigeration. The closer they can be kept to 33 degrees, the longer they will keep.

Rinse the berries lightly to remove field dust. No pesticides on the fruit to be concerned with when you get berries from The Berry Ranch! For strawberries, remove the tops. Mash fruit lightly. I do not recommend adding sugar to our fruit before freezing. Fill a freezer Ziploc comfortably full.

Note: If you want to freeze whole berries that are not smushed together, lay them out individually, flat on a cookie sheet. Freeze until they are solid and then put in a Ziploc bag and store in the freezer until you're ready to dip them in chocolate...or eat them plain, but whole!

Label your bag with the fruit type and date (doing this before you fill the bag is easier). Place in freezer. We've had great results keeping fruit two years (or more) in the home freezer.

Enjoy it year 'round, "for the health of it!"
